Urinary tract infections
In our line of work we care for some of the most vulnerable people in society. They are also much more prone than most to certain infections and illnesses. As immune systems weaken with age, the elderly are much more vulnerable to urinary tract infections (UTI).
Because the muscles of the bladder weaken with age, it can be more difficult for the elderly to empty completely when urinating. If this happens, bacteria can get left behind causing infection to grow in the residual urine.
Symptoms can include pain when urinating and dark or cloudy and strong smelling urine. People can also experience confusion or disorientation, tiredness and/or a lack of mobility.
The Private Care Company Team is fully trained with UTI and we are constantly watching out for signs and symptoms so we can get our clients early medical intervention where possible.
The vast majority of clients suffering from a UTI will improve within a couple of days after starting treatment.
