Champion carers

As the need for quality care increases in Brighton and Hove, The Private Care Company has been busy training a new, dedicated team of carers, who are specially chosen for their high levels of motivation and commitment.

We welcomed 12 new carers last month and we have another induction of 10 people we will begin training this month. This is no mean feat as our training – provided by our experienced and qualified team – is comprehensive. It involves a full five-day induction as well as an extensive twelve-week orientation which includes the following topics:

  • Role of the Care Worker
  • Personal Development
  • Effective Communication
  • Equality, Diversity and Inclusion
  • Duty of Care
  • Safeguarding
  • Person Centered Care and Support
  • Health and Safety
  • Handling
  • Infection Prevention and Control
  • Medication Administration Training
  • Catheter Awareness
  • Scalding Risks
  • Dementia Training
  • Emergency First Aid
  • Food Safety Level 2
  • Safer People Handling
  • Epilepsy Training

Once our carers have passed these qualifications they begin employment with us while being regularly monitored and supervised. After six months we have them enrol on the Health and Social Care Diploma Levels 2 and 3. In addition, we require them to complete refresher training every year.

We have also recently introduced an English proficiency test which ensures all of our staff are able to provide the best possible care and communicate with our customers competently.

We welcome our new recruits!
